Mother India by her Unsung Heroes (3)

Chapter 3.  Warriors of Today

More than 70 years later, the legacies of the Partition remain clear in the subcontinent: in its new political formations and in the memories of divided families, and the stories of its unhonoured heroes. The years past independence have not been easy for us, the British fled India in hast leaving behind them their theory of divide and conquer, and the effects of their mental torture over the past 200 long years. These repercussions were easily visible throughout India, multiple uprisings, revolts were shattering the vision of the newly formed one India. People were divided and misguided, the many different states wanted their own independence. Democracy came to us as our saviour. It found a way to resolve everyone’s issues in an orderly fashion. India is the most populous democracy in the world. The credit for this big title goes to the election commission of India and their resolution of conducting a fair election to everyone. Their commitment of making a pooling booth easily available and accessible to even the most remote voter is remarkable. Be it severe weather conditions, quarrelled lands, or places deep inside the jungle even for a single person, you’ll find a polling booth there, there grit pushes them to extents beyond expectations. The mantra ‘Every Vote Counts’ is so spirituous, that it drives them to push past the limits and get every single eligible citizen to come and cast their vote. Their dedication also motivates individuals to leave their laziness behind and vote for the betterment of the country. The more the people will vote the elected government will be to the liking of the many, keeping the citizens happy. This is a blessing in disguise, the election commission truly is an unsung hero in maintain the peace and tranquillity of this nation.

Though many hardships and struggles India has emerged as one united national and is on the path to become the best country in more than one way. The youth nation, a developing country is a land that has sheltered all kinds of communities and has faced all kinds of enormities; and yet is steadfast and firm in its values of honouring each and every champion no matter how small their contribution. Even the sportsmen and artisans representing India on the international floor are equitable for the title of India’s unsung heroes. When these athletes come on the ground and showcase their talents, it is not just them who is playing on the field it is the hearts, prayers and cheers of millions of their fans and family members back home. They win any medal; the country wins a medal. All their hard work, sacrifices pay off when they wear the country jersey and step forth to take up the challenge of fulfilling the wishes of their many well-wishers. Our sports enthusiasts may not be physically present at the game venue but are surely present there mentally with their full concentration and devotion. Seeing them play and represent India is a feeling of great pleasure and satisfaction, synonymous to how any parent feels when their child has achieved something, and raised their name with pride. When our artists perform, the whole mood changes. The feeling of belongingness to a country with such a rich heritage is a sensation that tops all others. The wordings are theirs but the heart and soul they represent is of the whole country. These people, in my eyes are the true unsung heroes of mother India.

It goes without saying that not the athletes and artisans are the ones entitled for this honour, but scientists, designers, astrophysics, businessmen and every other citizen that plays their part in lifting up mother India’s name is an unsung hero. May it be a small victory or an Olympic medal each quest is chargeable for a prize.

Investing time is no easy task, and when you have invested a fair amount of time it is your right to take back something fruitful, continue the journey to uncover the beautiful life lessons hidden in history…
